New Life Mission Statement

New Life Church exists to lead people to Jesus by building a church that is;
Gospel-centred, Alive in worship, Generational by nature, Compassionate in service, Audacious in mission

Our Senior Pastors

Matthew Warren grew up as part of a family who were missionaries in France for four years. He pastored the youth for 17 years, and was appointed Senior Pastor in 2018. Matt is married to Vivi who grew up in Argentina, together they have four children, Jeremy, Tiffany, Honey, and their recent addition, Elliott born in 2017.  His purpose for the Church is clear; to lead people to Jesus both in Emsworth and the surrounding areas of Portsmouth, Havant, Chichester, and beyond.

"We love the church and believe it should be confident, family centred, compassionate, and audacious in faith and service. If you’re seeking answers to some of life's questions, just visiting, or already a follower of Jesus, we pray that you will connect with God's purposes for your life in a unique and beautiful way."

We are audacious in mission

The backbone of the church is upheld by large teams of volunteers, who have the passion and desire to see the church develop to its full potential. We believe we can all impact our world ‘through small deeds of service and great love.’ If you are interested in joining a team, we would love to help you find the place where you could start serving. Go to the Reception Desk on a Sunday or contact us.

We are compassionate in service

Through Compassion, we sponsor over 250 children, releasing them from poverty in Jesus name. Poverty has face. It’s a girl forced to marry because her family can’t support her. From the womb to early adulthood, we stand for children, giving those born into the toughest of circumstances the opportunities they deserve

Stop Domestic Abuse are a great local charity we have chosen to support. They are an innovative and unique provider of all services to those who have been affected by domestic abuse. Their aim isn't just to help protect and work with victims, they also help perpetrators, the police and many other organisations. With their main vision being to see a world without domestic abuse. SDAS manage refuges offering support and temporary accommodation to women and children who are escaping domestic abuse.

We are generational by nature

New Life has always been committed to the next generation and it has been this dedication accompanied with the grace of God, which has built a very strong youth and kids work.

Psalm 127:4-5 says, “Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them!”

As a church we have been entrusted with a quiver full of arrows and this is a responsibility that we take very seriously. Every department of the New Life under 30s ministry are uniquely developed to help the young people through the challenges and changes of that season in their lives. It is our vision to “shape arrows”, what we mean by this is that we will help develop and equip these young people to hit the target of whatever purpose God, “the great archer”, has for their lives. As they transition through each age bracket they will learn the tools that will launch them out of the under 30s ministry and into adulthood as confident and secure world changers.

We are alive in worship

We are gospel-centred

We embrace the Evangelical Alliance statement of faith

1. The one true God who lives eternally in three persons—the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

2. The love, grace and sovereignty of God in creating, sustaining, ruling, redeeming and judging the world.

3. The divine inspiration and supreme authority of the Old and New Testament Scriptures, which are the written Word of God—fully trustworthy for faith and conduct.

4. The dignity of all people, made male and female in God's image to love, be holy and care for creation, yet corrupted by sin, which incurs divine wrath and judgement.

5. The incarnation of God’s eternal Son, the Lord Jesus Christ—born of the virgin Mary; truly divine and truly human, yet without sin.

6. The atoning sacrifice of Christ on the cross: dying in our place, paying the price of sin and defeating evil, so reconciling us with God.
7. The bodily resurrection of Christ, the first fruits of our resurrection; his ascension to the Father, and his reign and mediation as the only Saviour of the world.

8. The justification of sinners solely by the grace of God through faith in Christ.

9. The ministry of God the Holy Spirit, who leads us to repentance, unites us with Christ through new birth, empowers our discipleship and enables our witness.

10. The Church, the body of Christ both local and universal, the priesthood of all believers—given life by the Spirit and endowed with the Spirit's gifts to worship God and proclaim the gospel, promoting justice and love.

11. The personal and visible return of Jesus Christ to fulfil the purposes of God, who will raise all people to judgement, bring eternal life to the redeemed and eternal condemnation to the lost, and establish a new heaven and new earth.
